ABOUT
In a career that’s spanned thirty four years, Joel Sutton has toured and recorded with some of Australia’s (and the world's), greatest blues and roots musicians. This experience led Joel to write, produce and record his own songs.
Joel’s first outing as an artist in his own right, saw him release “Rhythm & Blues Revue Vol.1” which featured some of Joel’s dearest musical friends, playing some of their favourite classic rhythm and blues songs. This album spent two months at number one on the 2020 Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Chart.
Joel is now in the final stages of producing his very first, all original offering - written by himself and some of his closest songwriting friends. A tour is planned for early 2023.
JOEL SUTTON RHYTHM & BLUES REVUE - VOL 1

Joel has recruited Aussie R&B royalty plus some hot new talent to reimagine 11 classic songs that encapsulate the extremes of the human condition and everything in between: Rhythm and Blues. Euphoria and Melancholy. Pleasure and Pain.

A quick look over Joel’s career reads like a who’s who of the Australian rhythm and blues landscape.
Starting at fifteen in Townsville with Larry Cook’s Hard Blues Band, then to Cairns as a sixteen year old kid to fill the drum chair for Cairns very own Johno’s Blues Band at Johno’s Blues Bar. During his tenure there, he backed artists such as Tommy and Phil Emmanuel, Albert Lee and many more.
Moving to Sydney at nineteen to play for The Mal Eastick band, Joel also started his freelance career, which saw him play for Sydney bands such as The Hippos, The Bondi Cigars, The Foreday Riders and many more. He also toured during this time playing drums for Chuck Berry’s Right hand man, piano icon, Johnnie Johnson. Doing television appearances and festivals with Johnnie.
Joel also spent time in Melbourne where he was making a living as a fill in drummer, working for people such as Vika and Linda, Chris Wilson and many more.
Joel is now focussing on releasing and producing his own original music and working with the many talented artists he’s met along the way.
